Breaking News: Amazon's Alexa is bidding farewell to celebrity voices, including Shaquille O’Neal, Melissa McCarthy, and Samuel L. Jackson. The popular feature allowed users to download these voices for a fee, but now they're being phased out.

Jackson's voice will be available until June 7, 2023, while McCarthy and O'Neal's voices will be discontinued on September 30, 2023. Users who previously purchased the voices can still enjoy them for a limited time. Refunds can be requested by contacting Amazon's customer service.

While Amazon hasn't disclosed the reason behind removing the celebrity voices, recent spending cuts and a change in leadership may have played a role. The company aims to focus on its core products and streamline operations under CEO Andy Jassy.

Interestingly, leaked documents suggest that Amazon may be exploring the integration of AI, such as ChatGPT, to enhance its voice feature. This could expand functionality beyond basic requests, offering more immersive experiences with videos and audio.

Although it's unclear how AI will factor into Alexa's future, Jassy mentioned the development of a larger and more capable language model during an earnings call. Amazon aims to solidify its position as the premier personal assistant, hinting at a significant business opportunity.
