Galaxy S22 Might Get Galaxy AI After All, But It's Not Guaranteed

Samsung's latest flagship lineup, including the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, introduced this year, comes with Galaxy AI features. The company has committed to extending these features to the S23 family, including the S23 FE, through an update to One UI 6.1 expected to roll out by the end of the current month.

However, users of the S22 family were initially left out of the Galaxy AI upgrades. Nevertheless, there's now a possibility that these features might still reach the 2022 flagship models, although no definitive plans have been confirmed yet. Samsung's President of the Mobile Division, TM Roh, indicated during a general shareholders' meeting that efforts are underway to bring Galaxy AI capabilities to older devices.

One of the challenges in implementing these features on the S22 family lies in the division of functionality between cloud-based and on-device processing. Despite this obstacle, Samsung is allocating resources to address the issue. While it's uncertain whether the S22 family will ultimately receive Galaxy AI, Samsung is actively working on it, with the outcome still pending further updates.

In another development, TM Roh also confirmed Samsung's ongoing exploration of rollable and slideable devices, with the company proceeding cautiously, focusing on research and patenting. Despite continued development efforts, there's no rush to bring these new form factors to market, indicating a more measured approach compared to previous ventures.

Uncertain Outcome:

As of now, it's unclear whether the S22 will definitively get Galaxy AI. Samsung is working on it, but there's no guarantee of success. We'll have to wait for further announcements.
