Google's AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE) is leveling up with a new feature - article summarization! It's designed to summarize web articles you've clicked on, saving you from endless scrolling.
Accessible through the opt-in Search Labs program, this "SGE while browsing" feature will first appear on the Google app for Android and iOS, then later on Chrome desktop.
When reading freely available web articles, a tap of an icon will reveal AI-generated "key points" about the content. However, paywalled sites won't be supported.
Other updates include hover-over definitions on SGE results and clearer coding information summaries.
Google introduced SGE at Google I/O, and it's been enhancing it since. Despite personal reservations, CEO Sundar Pichai noted positive user feedback, suggesting it's becoming a fundamental part of how Search functions.
