Meta (Facebook), has announced the formation of a new team to focus on the development of innovative tools and experiences in the field of artificial intelligence. Among the projects that the team will work on are the creation of AI personas, text and image-based chat experiences, and multi-modal experiences. The team will be led by Ahmad Al-Dahle, Meta's Vice President of AI and machine learning.
While Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, acknowledges that the company still has a lot of foundational work to do before these futuristic experiences can become a reality, he expressed his enthusiasm for the possibilities that lie ahead. Meta has already made strides in this direction with the recent launch of its AI language generator, LLaMA, which is geared towards researchers.
Meta's previous forays into the world of AI chatbots, namely Galactica and Blenderbot, were not particularly impressive. However, with the formation of this new team, it will be interesting to see how Meta improves on and incorporates AI features within each app. As the company continues to develop and refine its AI capabilities, the possibilities for new and exciting experiences are endless.
