OpenAI introduces enhanced capabilities for GPT-3.5 Turbo, allowing customization with custom data. This boosts reliability and behavior customization, aiming to match or even surpass GPT-4's capabilities on specific tasks.

Fine-tuning empowers businesses using GPT-3.5 Turbo to create tailored models. This includes precise language responses, consistent formatting, and the right tone for brand alignment.

Shortening text prompts speeds API calls and reduces costs. Early testers achieved up to 90% prompt size reduction through fine-tuning, leading to efficiency gains.

Fine-tuning process involves data prep, file uploads, and API usage. A future UI is in the works for real-time fine-tuning status checks.

Fine-tuning costs vary:

Training: $0.008 / 1K tokens

Usage input: $0.012 / 1K tokens

Usage output: $0.016 / 1K tokens

OpenAI introduces updated GPT-3 base models (babbage-002 and davinci-002) that can also be fine-tuned. Original GPT-3 base models retire on January 4, 2024.

Exciting news: Fine-tuning support for GPT-4 is on the horizon, set to understand both text and images. More details coming this fall.
