Microsoft's AI-powered art-generating tool, Designer, is coming to the free version of Teams!
Designer, like Canva, lets users generate designs for presentations, posters, and digital postcards. It accepts text prompts or uploaded images and uses DALL-E 2, OpenAI's text-to-image AI, to create unique designs. You can even customize and personalize them!
Initially available on Windows 11, Designer can also be accessed via the web and Microsoft Edge browser sidebar. It was first announced in October, and new features like caption generation and animated visuals arrived in April. Advanced editing features are on the way!
While Microsoft plans to monetize Designer through Microsoft 365 subscriptions, it has confirmed that some functionality will remain free. We're eagerly waiting to find out which features will be included!
In other updates, GroupMe users can now create Teams calls from within their group chats, making communication seamless and efficient. And on Windows 11, Teams communities are now supported, allowing users to connect, collaborate, and host events.
Teams users on Windows 11, iOS, and Android will soon have access to a new communities discovery feature, where they can join communities focused on various topics. Community owners have control over who joins, can create polls, and share posts as emails.
Teams community members can now record videos on their mobile devices with enhanced filters and markup tools. On iOS, owners can even scan and invite people using their phone camera. These updates reflect the growing popularity of Teams, with daily active users reaching 270 million!
Stay tuned for more updates on Designer's functionality and pricing, as well as further enhancements to Teams. Microsoft continues to enhance the platform to meet the needs of remote and hybrid work environments.
