Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger express concerns about the impact of AI
Generative artificial intelligence has become a buzzword this year, with apps such as ChatGPT capturing the public's fancy. But not everyone is excited about AI's rapid evolution.
Recently, billionaire investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett, compared the creation of powerful technology to the atomic bomb, expressing concerns about its potential impact.
During a discussion at the company's annual meeting, Buffett said, "When something can do all kinds of things, I get a little bit worried. Because I know we won't be able to un-invent it."
Buffett further said he believes AI will change "everything in the world, except how men think and behave." Charlie Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, shared similar skepticism about the technology.
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Hinton, widely known as one of the "godfathers of AI," expressed concerns that AI could pose a "more urgent" threat to humanity than climate change.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, also joined thousands in signing an open letter calling for a six-month pause in the development of systems more powerful than OpenAI's recently-launched GPT-4.
As AI continues to evolve, it's clear that not everyone is comfortable with its potential impact. What do you think about the future of AI? Let us know in the comments.
