It’s less about models — more about shipping smarter, faster, safer AI. September 03, 2025 17:10 Why OpenAI Acquired Statsig for $1.1B—and What It Signals

OpenAI has acquired Statsig in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $1.1 billion, according to Reuters, based on OpenAI's current valuation of $300 billion.

As a key part of the agreement, Statsig's founder, Vijaye Raji, will now serve as OpenAI's CTO of Applications, taking charge of product engineering for ChatGPT, Codex, and related infrastructure.

Statsig — an experimentation platform offering A/B testing, feature flagging, and real-time decisioning — will continue operating independently from its Seattle office, serving existing customers while transitioning to become part of OpenAI.

This acquisition comes on the heels of OpenAI's prior pursuit of Windsurf and adds to a series of strategic moves, including leadership reshuffles — especially across applications and B2B divisions
